I love my iPOD. All of my music collection is on it and the ability to pick any song of any genre at any time and have it there ready to listen to with at the touch of my finger is priceless. There is one problem however that is slowly starting to drive me nuts. I tend to have quite an ecclectic mix of music ranging from Metallica, to Mark Knopfler, to Beethhoven, to Salsa, to Dance, Trance, and god knows what else. Depending on my mood, I'm sure to find something suitable. The only problem is that I regularly click the track wheel of my iPOD a little too quickly and in doing so it seems to think I want to play the first song in my library - which is sorted alphabetically.
Hence, I am sick to the point of insantity of hearing the opening, descending notes piano rif of ABBA's Dancing Queen. A classic pop song for sure and certainly a distillation of all that was 1970's disco music. It has it's place in music history one could argue, but it has no place on my iPOD having had to hear that damned opening rif at least twenty times in any give month!
Arggghhghghghghgh....Friday night and the lights down........STOP!
Then August it is...and not a month too soon!

If you have forgotten who the dude from france is I have only myself to blame. I haven't spent nearly enough time corresponding with those who matter. Be assured we haven't forgotten you. And this summer I hope to reunite with Adri and the Flying Ponznalli Brothers w/ Stupid this summer because the Givlin Family will be at the CalNeva from August 5 to August 25.
Prekop sang and strummed a bit for Sea and Cake. I don't know anybody who doesn't like Sea and Cake; but then again, I don't know many people who know Sea and Cake.

Sam Prekop?! - never heard of the man. I will however check it out. Good to hear from you BTW. Took me a while to decipher was Le Dude de France!

Our local Tesco has fresh baked sour dough loaf's about twice a week. Yes, it's a real treat! Now if we could just get someone to make a decent clam chowder (not, fish chowder)....

Took a look at the pictures of the boys... they are growing so quickly.

I'm still between technologies. The car stereo plays audio cds only (no mp3) so I find myself burning audio cds still. In fact we're preparing a road trip to Marseille, so I'm working on my mixed tapes(cd). Brings me back to the days (only ten years ago) when I made mixed tapes for our tours of northern Cal on actual cassettes tapes. I still have a box full of cassettes which I never listen to, but hold onto because I haven't been able to replace them all.
I only gave Neon Bible two listens and it didn't really grab me. Maybe I'll give it a few more listens. The music I have on heavy rotation right now is Sam Prekop's solo efforts, the man is audio butter. So smooth!!!

Ahh.....you should have mentioned that Adri uses it as well. Of course she has sole rights to dictate the music.....only right and proper!

But then I'd have no 'Dancing Queen' for when I'm in a 'Dancing Queen' mood - which BTW is drifting towards zero these days. Note that Adri accesses the same database on the pc - hence no deletion.

You know, it's just a thought.....I mean maybe it's impossible or something, but d'ya think that if you...well....how can I say this......I don't know.....DELETE the ABBA song, it might solve the problem. Or is that just too far out there.......?

Funny you should mention sourdough... I finally manage to get a decent crock so I can grow my own starter... and they start carrying sourdough loaves at the grocery. So... as of this week we can buy it or bake it.. but it is an end to missing sourdough!!

Neon Bible is next on my list. These guys are really fantastic. They have a way of capturing true emotions in their music. I saw them on Austin City Limits and what blown away. They're as impressive visually as they are soundwise.
Had sourdough bread for breakfast this morning - caused me to think of you and Chip. Still no sourdough in Escossia?

Funny! You Europeans and your obsession with Abba! Sheesh!
Saw your sidebar about Arcade Fire.. I am currently obsessed with their Neon Bible album.. especially the title song. I haven't memorized an album like this in years... the songs, the moods, the lyrics... all brilliant!!
